Aviation First Aid Training
Develop the knowledge and hands-on skills to respond to medical emergencies in the aircraft environment.
Who is this course for?
Flight crew and cabin crew completing initial aviation first aid training or refreshing previous training.
The course brings first aid into the aircraft environment, where space, equipment and access to external medical support can differ from other settings. Practical skills complement the discussion of aero-medical factors and common onboard medical situations.

- London Oxford Airport is our primary training location. We can also deliver in-company or at another venue by prior arrangement. Classroom learning and practical skills; equipment and facilities are confirmed with your booking.

- Assessment
- Closed-book multiple-choice test, 75% pass mark; confirm any additional practical assessment.
- Certificate
- Electronic certificate after successful completion and full payment.
- Recurrent interval
- Confirm the interval required by your operator and role.
- Group arrangements
- Tell us your group size. We will confirm capacity and any bespoke arrangements; bespoke courses carry a minimum charge equivalent to two delegates.
Learning outcomes

- Practise first aid and CPR skills in an aviation context.
- Identify onboard equipment and infection-control considerations.
Detailed syllabus
Choose initial or recurrent training according to previous experience and your operator’s requirements. The training team confirms the appropriate option.
Aero-medical factors
- Hypoxia and oxygen requirements.
- Pressure effects, Eustachian tube function and barotrauma.
- Air sickness and physiological effects of flying.
Illness and injury
- Unconsciousness, shock, stroke and heart attack.
- Asthma, allergic reactions, stress and gastrointestinal illness.
- Burns, wounds, fractures and soft-tissue injuries.
- Childbirth and other onboard medical situations.
Practical response and equipment
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the aircraft environment.
- First aid oxygen and first aid kit use.
- Practical first aid skills and recognition of when further help is needed.
Travel health and hygiene
- Onboard hygiene and reducing exposure to contagious disease.
- Clinical waste, aircraft disinsection and death onboard.
- Fatigue, sleep, circadian rhythms and time-zone changes.
