Flight and cabin crew requiring initial or recurrent training in normal procedures and safety emergency procedures.
Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety emergency procedures (SEPs) connect crew responsibilities with the safe preparation and conduct of a flight. Initial and recurrent options are available. Tell us which aircraft equipment and operator procedures the course needs to cover.
Course facts
- Delivery
- London Oxford Airport is our primary training location. We can also deliver in-company or at another venue by prior arrangement. Ground training includes practical equipment handling. Aircraft type and equipment are agreed before booking.
- Dates

- Assessment
- Closed-book multiple-choice test, 75% pass mark; confirm any additional practical assessment.
- Certificate
- Electronic certificate after successful completion and full payment.
- Recurrent interval
- Confirm the interval required by your operator and role.
- Group arrangements
- Tell us your group size. We will confirm capacity and any bespoke arrangements; bespoke courses carry a minimum charge equivalent to two delegates.

Detailed syllabus
Initial and recurrent courses each last four hours. We will agree the syllabus and equipment for your aircraft, operator and crew role before booking.
Normal procedures
- Crew fitness, responsibilities, pre-flight briefings and communication.
- Pre-flight and security checks; vigilance and surface contamination.
- Refuelling with passengers, special-category passengers and passengers assisting the crew.
- Live animals, cabin stowage and passenger safety briefings.
- Cabin, galley and toilet checks; sterile flight deck and silent review.
Emergency procedures
- Rejected take-off, go-around and turbulence procedures.
- Pilot incapacitation, decompression and hypoxia.
- Planned and unplanned evacuation on land or water.
- Crowd control, passenger motivation and inflight fire drills.
- Incident and accident review; authority and responsibility for initiating an evacuation.
Equipment handling
- Lifejackets, flotation equipment, extinguishers and portable breathing equipment.
- Oxygen systems, portable oxygen and survival equipment.
- Life rafts, survival packs and other equipment relevant to the agreed aircraft configuration.
- Daily equipment inspection and expiry dates; infant lifejackets and flotation cots where applicable.
Additional initial-course context
- Aviation regulations, competent authorities and crew duties.
- Operations manual use, amendments and aviation terminology.
- Managing intoxicated or aggressive passengers; unusable exits and passengers requiring assistance.
