Delivery
London Oxford Airport is our primary training location. We can also deliver in-company or at another venue by prior arrangement. Aviation Survival covers principles and equipment. Survival & Wet Drills adds supervised water-based activities at a confirmed pool venue.

Assessment
Closed-book multiple-choice test, 75% pass mark; confirm any additional practical assessment.
Certificate
Electronic certificate after successful completion and full payment.
Recurrent interval
Confirm the interval required by your operator and role.
Group arrangements
Tell us your group size. We will confirm capacity and any bespoke arrangements; bespoke courses carry a minimum charge equivalent to two delegates.

  • Explain survival priorities in different environments.
  • Identify equipment for protection, location and signalling.
  • For the wet-drill option, practise flotation equipment, raft boarding and assistance in the water.

Detailed syllabus

The 1.5-hour Aviation Survival option excludes wet drills. Survival & Wet Drills is 3.5 hours; wet drills alone are the same price, with their duration to be confirmed. Pool access and requirements are confirmed before booking.

Survival principles
  • Polar, sea/water, jungle and desert environments.
  • Protection from the elements and fire craft.
  • Water, food and the will to survive.
Location and signalling
  • Search and rescue and ground-to-air signalling.
  • Signalling equipment such as emergency locator transmitters, mirrors and sea-dye markers.
  • Survival pack contents and equipment use.
Wet drills: practical option
  • Donning flotation equipment and entering the water.
  • Assisting a casualty in the water.
  • Life raft features, righting and boarding; assisting others.
  • Survival scenarios, raft repair and emergency locator equipment.

Plan your course

For wet drills, you must be able to swim a full pool length unaided and tread water for one minute. Confirm pool length, changing arrangements, clothing and support needs before booking.

Before you book

Wet drills alone cost £375 per person, excluding VAT where applicable. Participants must be able to swim one full pool length without assistance and tread water for one minute. Ask us to confirm the pool length and discuss any support needs before booking.

Before you attend

Bring photo ID and arrive at the time shown in your joining instructions. Tell us about any learning, access or assessment support you need, ideally at least seven days before training. If you have less notice, please get in touch.
