Who is this course for?
Flight and cabin crew who need to practise the use of firefighting and protective equipment in the context of their operation.
The course combines recognition of fire and smoke with communication, coordination and practical equipment use. A portable fire rig supports hands-on practice. Tell us your aircraft type so we can agree the equipment for your course.

- Delivery
- London Oxford Airport is our primary training location. We can also deliver in-company or at another venue by prior arrangement. Practical training requires suitable arrangements for the portable fire rig.
- Dates
- Ask for the next available course or suggest your preferred dates.
- Assessment
- Closed-book multiple-choice test, 75% pass mark; confirm any additional practical assessment.
- Certificate
- Electronic certificate after successful completion and full payment.
- Recurrent interval
- Confirm the interval required by your operator and role.
- Group arrangements
- Tell us your group size. We will confirm capacity and any bespoke arrangements; bespoke courses carry a minimum charge equivalent to two delegates.

Detailed syllabus
This three-hour course combines discussion with practical drills. We will agree the aircraft-specific equipment and a suitable venue before booking.
Recognising and coordinating a response
- Prompt response to fire or smoke and identifying its source.
- Crew communication, coordination and assistance.
- Fire-risk areas, toilets and smoke detectors.
Fire types and equipment
- Fire classifications and the appropriate use of extinguishers.
- Portable breathing equipment, gloves and relevant protective equipment.
- Discussion of aircraft-specific equipment, with the exact equipment agreed at booking.
Practical drills
- Extinguishing a training fire using the portable fire rig.
- Donning portable breathing equipment.
- Ground-based emergency services procedures.
